Vision

Our vision is…to establish and coordinate a statewide collaborative methodology for the annual Point In Time Count in Utah. This statewide collaboration will take place throughout the year in order to have a continuous open line of communication with the purpose of prioritizing and implementing best practices involving the PIT Count as well as tailoring those methodologies to fit the landscape of both the geographic region and the homeless populations therein the diverse communities throughout the Balance of State in Utah. 

Purpose of the Workgroup:

The purpose of the …UT 503 Point In Time Workgroup is to initiate and operate the first coordinated, structured and year round group responsible for leading the Street and Communal Outreach necessary to fully support the PIT Count annually. By establishing this cohort we hope to not only serve the Balance of State, but also to draw community members and service providers located in those regions to the table and by extension more evenly distribute the PIT Count duties and responsibilities. 

  • Coordination and education of annual PIT activities
  • Review results and determine best use of data

Structure of the Workgroup:

  • Membership structure
    • Number of members 11-14
    • Positions 1 Chair & OHS Support/ Specialist 
    • Meeting frequency 1-2 a month Sept.-Feb., No meeting from March-May, Every other month starting from June until Sept.
  • Each LHC will designate one voting member to ensure effective decision-making. (REQUIRED)

Functions of the Workgroup:

  • Measurable Goals
    • Goal 1- Meet and debrief immediately following each PIT Count in order to fully flesh out exactly what we are seeing out there in the Balance of State as well as what challenges volunteers and employees are experiencing during the Count. 
    • Goal 2-Expedite the communication of new ideas, organizational changes, best practices, challenges, successes and policies throughout the group and Balance of State.
    • Goal 3- Obtain new participants to the Point In Time Count in the BoS, whether they are service providing organizations or individual citizens.
  • Data collection methods- Arc GIS, OHS Data Team
  • Monitoring and Reporting- Once the PIT Count data for each year henceforth is collected we will go over the report as a workgroup cohort. 
  • Resources- OHS Homeless System Coordination Team, HUD
  • Education and Awareness- T.R.U.S.T. Training, Volunteer recruitment and training
  • Quarterly report to the UT 503 Executive Committee (TBD) and the UT 503 membership during all meetings
