HMIS News & Announcements

Coordinated Entry in the Utah Homeless Management Information System (UHMIS)

The National Alliance to End Homelessness recently released a Report on the State of Homelessness. With the report, they also released some State of Homelessness Dashboards which provide a snapshot view of the data by State, including here in Utah.

CoC Performance Profile Reports

Continuum of Care (CoC) Performance Profile Reports provide a snapshot of a CoC’s performance in addressing homelessness using performance indicators such as the length of time persons have been homeless, returns to homelessness over time, and exits to permanent housing. The report compiles data from the Point-in-Time (PIT) count, Housing Inventory Count (HIC), system performance measures, and CoC Program Competition; displays the data as graphics; and summarizes much of the data in a table. Each report includes funding information from HUD’s CoC Program, Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program, and Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program (YHDP).

CoC System Performance Measures Data Since FY 2015

This resource provides data on system performance measure information by Continuum of Care since FY 2015 in MS Excel format for use in local analysis. CoCs are given the option of providing updates to the past year’s submission with each new submission process which may result in some changes to past data over time.

CoC Housing Inventory Count Reports

Housing Inventory Count Reports provide a snapshot of a CoC’s HIC, an inventory of housing conducted annually during the last ten days in January. The reports tally the number of beds and units available on the night designated for the count by program type, and include beds dedicated to serve persons who are homeless as well as persons in Permanent Supportive Housing.  New for this year, the reports also include data on beds dedicated to serve specific sub-populations of persons.

CoC Homeless Populations and Subpopulations Reports

Continuum of Care (CoC) Homeless Assistance Programs Homeless Populations and Subpopulations Reports provide counts for sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons by household type and subpopulation, available at the national and state level, and for each CoC. The reports are based on Point-in-Time (PIT) information provided to HUD by CoCs in the application for CoC Homeless Assistance Programs. The PIT Count provides a count of sheltered and unsheltered homeless persons on a single night during the last ten days in January.

CoC Dashboard Reports

Continuum of Care (CoC) Homeless Assistance Programs Dashboard Reports show claimed geography and geographic coverage changes for the previous two program years and also include information on each CoC’s awards by award amount, program type, and renewal type. The reports contain summary data from the Point-in-Time (PIT) count and Housing Inventory Count (HIC), which provide a quick overview of a CoC’s performance in serving homeless individuals with their CoC awards.

CoC Award Summary Reports by Program Type

CoC Award Summary Reports by Program Type provide snapshots of award data broken down by eligible program component types for the year selected. The reports, which can be run to show a specific CoC or State’s program components, also display the amount and percentage of new projects and renewal projects.

Housing Choice Voucher Program Dashboard – By HUD

The housing choice voucher program is the federal government’s major program for assisting very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market. Since housing assistance is provided on behalf of the family or individual, participants are able to find their own housing, including single-family homes, townhouses and apartments.

National Low Income Housing Coalition: Out of Reach

Out of Reach documents the significant gap between renters’ wages and the cost of rental housing across the United States. The report’s central statistic, the Housing Wage, is an estimate of the hourly wage a full-time worker must earn to afford a modest rental home at HUD’s fair market rent (FMR) without spending more than 30% of their income on housing costs – the accepted standard of affordability. The FMR is an estimate of what a family moving today can expect to pay for a modestly priced rental home in a given area.
